I don’t know if you believe in “metaphysical mumbo-jumbo” or not, but this is a pretty cool interview with Will Smith. I like what he says about being on the treadmill . . .
How To Seduce Weak-minded People

It’s easy to seduce a weak-minded person.
Just say what they want to believe is true. Then say what they want to believe is true, then add a little more that they’ll associate with the truth.
How Do You Like This Idea?

I’ve been talking about the release of the Affiliate Black Book for so long it’s embarrassing.
I keep coming up with new ideas, re-writing sections, cutting stuff, adding stuff - this things never gonna get done at this rate.
So I had a new thought.
Maybe it’s not a book at all - maybe it’s a series of reports delivered in a membership site “way” - ie, instead of selling a complete book for $197, instead I charge $17 per week to deliver a “chapter” and the charge continues for as long as A) I have something good to add and B) you, as a subscriber want to keep paying me for ideas. This way I can take what I have, spend an entire week really boosting the value of the content for the next week and the overall product is delivered with higher value to you - but at a lower immediate cost (I think/hope that content broken up and delivered over time translates into a more usable product for you).
Let me know what you think by voting in the poll below - and paid blog subscribers, I’ll be making you a more screaming deal.

I’ve hit on this a few times in the last month or so, but as I just checked my email and I see $100 in new sales I’m going to share a little more.
First, I’m in a niche that isn’t exactly off the beaten path.
Second, those new sales mentioned above are not anything unusual. I’ve just wasted half-an-hour on the Warrior Forum then I checked my email and I see a number of “J— B—— you’ve just referred a sale!” notifications and I’m motivated to write a little something.
The product above I’ve known about for at least six years but I never bothered to promote it - again, it’s nothing new.
Here’s all that’s involved.

I wonder if people who buy programs like Mass Control identify themselves as a part of the mass that’s being controlled?
Good News From Google?

Maybe.
Google has announced some changes to Quality Score and “Google Slap” that should help a lot of us.
Quality Score has been a major headache for a lot of us. Often, totally relevant pages are slapped for no obviously good reason - ie, “keyword phrase” going to site “keyword-phrase.com” that’s all about “keyword phrase”.

Start Your Own Social Web 2.0 Niche Network

I love it when the solution is free
I’ve been search for a membership site platform that does some very specific things for nearly six months. In particular, based on a site that I found (and my wife joined) at http://juicefeasting.com
(Notice how freakin’ healthy everyone on that site looks and tell me that raw food isn’t what was meant for the human body.)
What I especially like is that members can post videos, pictures, create their own blog, etc. I’ve looked at a number of solutions and I was ready to commit $500 (and that was a friendly discount) plus about $70 per month for hosting.
Fortunately (or unfortunately, maybe) my friend said they’d been having issues with the membership platform (sounded like a server issue) and he didn’t recommend using it at this time …
Temporary setback that seemed like a major wrench in my plans.
After 2 weeks of procrastination I sat down and spent a few hours looking at solution after solution until I finally found what I was looking for - and it’s free. Well, it could be. If you want to remove their ads, increase bandwidth usage, use your own domain name and remove their site branding, then that comes to about $40 per - but it’s all hosted by them, software automatically updated - it’s a beautiful solution.
What’s crazy is that after asking a number of people what the Juice Feasting site is using as it’s very cool platform … it’s this service. Which I only discovered after creating an account, logging in and having the system tell me which networks I was already a part of - my own and Juice Feasting!
So the solution here is called Ning - ning.com to be specific. You can setup your own niche Web 2.0 social community complete with member blogs, forums, event calendars and a ton of other good stuff.
Thank me.
And what, X, does this have to do with Adwords and affiliate marketing? Glad you asked.
Innovation my friend. Innovation.
I’m thinking less about products these days and more about people. I see huge potential in demographic marketing with Adwords. I want to attract people to a place of purpose that means something to them and have them virally invite all of their friends to jump on board (maybe by adding a financial incentive for doing so).
I noticed something last night that amazed even me -
After watching a YouTube video that stated a pretty profound and controversial view on something I’m not going to get into here, I wanted to read feedback online from people who knew the topic better than I did. I went LOOKING for intelligent, social feedback on the subject. I EXPECTED to see video. I EXPECTED to see comments.
This was something new - or at least something I’ve never had an expectation for before.
Last week when I promoted Agency Adwords Elite, I also did something I’d never done before - since it seems few of my readers here are willing to leave a comment (I don’t get that) I put up a poll instead. I gave - YOU - the power to leave your opinion. The effect of this? I sold more copies of the program from my blog post, with the social proof of people’s votes, than I did with an email that shared only my own clearly biased opinion of the product.
As an Adwords marketer I’ve been very slow to embrace social media networks, but I think I’ve seen a different vision now and I’ll be working my own spin on it.

Let’s Put The Free-line Back Where It Belongs

We’ve seen some high profile marketers
clamoring about “the free line”.
FACT:
Giving free content in my 10 years of
doing business online has produced a
direct correlation in sales -
less sales.
The more I give away, the less I sell.
The more content I give, the less I sell.
My blog readers have read me writing,
“start right off selling - forget all of
the “take time and build a relationship”
advice”.
It isn’t relationships that need to be
developed - I do business with people
every day that I have NO relationship
with - it’s faith. You can trust me -
these people say it, my refund policy
says it, my payment processor says it,
etc.
WHY NICE GUYS DON’T GET THE GIRL -
I liken it to the “nice guy” investing
3 months into getting the girl to like
him only to have the “jerk guy” make the
first move - and there you go.
Girls (most) aren’t looking for nice guys
until they’ve decided to get married.
If you want the dreaded “friend” stamp
on your forehead, make this mistake.
But that’s just taking my word, my
opinion for it -
Here’s what Marketing Sherpa has found:
========================================================
RESULTS
Pala and his team learned that their customers preferred promotion-heavy email by a wide margin. It produced “five times more revenue per [delivered] email” than the information-heavy version.
(I suspect that *preferred* means, responded to)
It also got an open rate that was 200.6% higher than the educational email. For clickthroughs, the promotion-heavy email won by 89.8%.
Some B-to-C-only marketers may be knowingly nodding their heads. But Pala says that he didn’t expect such a differential between the two messages because of their business-consumer mix. “We were surprised.”

========================================================
I’ve been questioning, reworking and
revamping almost every way in which I
do business - looking at numbers that
have more emphasis put on them than they
deserve, as well as numbers and ways of
doing that need more emphasis.
Instead of spending your time crafting
a clever article - put the same time
into crafting a unique offer.
“Hey - I didn’t buy a new Dell last
week, but I just can’t pass up the
free shipping, the RAM upgrade and the
backpack they’re offering this week”.
It’s the same damn computer! But I’ve
bought more than one of their computers
because they just kept sending me offers
until they hit my hot button.
Riddle me this: When was the last time
Dell sent you an informational message?
“How a Dell Backpack Can Improve the
Life of a Student”.
I know you get me point here - and that’s
not all.
I’m less concerned with high optin
rates and more concerned with having
people on my list who just want the
solution I have to offer - you know,
let’s cut the chit-chat and get to
business - I don’t have time for chit-chat -
I want the damn results!
Of course, this approach is going to
vary from niche to niche and demographic
to demographic - but I think a lot of
what’s been put out there is just plain
crap and I’m happy to see the real-world
proof to back it up.
But wait! There’s more!
When was the last time you saw someone
walk into a Wal-mart and say “You guys
are just here to sell me things. All you
ever do is try to get me to buy stuff.
Where’s the free content? Where are
the articles on how I can buy more cheap
crap at your store and still have money
left to hit MacDonald’s on the way out?
Dude, I’m not coming here anymore. And
don’t send me any more of your promotions.”
The next time you see that happen, let me
know.

Why So Many People Fail With Adwords
Posted on August 19, 2008

This is excerpted from a post on Terry Dean’s blog - it’s nothing new but even though most people know this they continue to make the same mistake over and over.
You can’t “try” Google Adwords this week, ezine advertising next week, and then joint ventures the week after.
The keyword I use there was “try.”
Currently I have two clients I would consider absolute masters at Adwords. Both of them have said to me privately they feel it takes a year of experience and practice to really become excellent with Adwords.
What does that mean to the person who tries it for a week?
It means they get in, waste some money, and decide it doesn’t work for them.
The majority of people trying out Adwords for the first do lose some money. The good news of course is because of the budgets you can set, you’re the one who chooses how much you risk. Plus with all the conversion tracking features you can see exactly where results are being produced from your account.
Tip: No one should be using Adwords if they’re not also using the conversion tracking to see which keywords and ads are producing their sales.
